Mrs. Taylor's Sour Cream Cookies
- 7 or 8 dozen |

1 C.shortening (1/2 butter or margarine) |
2 C. sugar |
4 egg yokes, well beaten |
1 C. sour cream |
6 C. flour (approx) do not use more
than necessary as it makes cookies dry |
1 tsp. soda |
1 tsp. baking power

1/2 tsp. lemon flavor (hand-written
edit of 1 tsp.?)

1 tsp. vanilla (hand-written edit
of 2 tsp.?) |
SALT hand-written on the right side
of the card |
Use instant flour or powdered sugar
to roll out |
1 tsp. water; 1 egg yolk, paste
coloring for decorating |

Cream sugar with shortening. Add
well beaten egg yolks, sour cream, vanilla and lemon.
Sift flour with baking power and soda. Roll and bake
in hot oven - 450 degrees. |
This is an excellent recipe, for
many purposes. |
Put two together with filling; use
plain; sprinkle with sugar; cut into fancy shapes
and decorate. Roll very thin and stand over them when
in the oven. |
